Since the sneaker world is full of one-offs and limited editions, I decided to compile a list of the rarest sneakers available. I’ve got everything from Yeezy to ASICS to bespoke Air Jordans 1s covered. Take a look at some of the world’s most valuable shoes down below.
Nike Air Yeezy 1 ‘Grammy’
Kanye West wore these beauties to the Grammy Awards in 2008 to mark his relationship with Nike. Since the Swoosh and Kanye never put these into development, they’ve been one of the most sought-after sneakers in history.
These are expected to sell for upwards of $50,000, so if you have them, you’ll be out of pocket.
Yeezy BOOST 700 VX
There are numerous Yeezy samples available, but these are by far the most interesting. It’s a BOOST 700 that’s been dressed up with 700 branding and a bold colorway. Tr3yway Shotti, 6ix9ine’s producer, received these wild Yeezys as a present. We don’t know anything else about these punches, but we doubt they’ll ever see the light of day.
ASICS x Afew GEL-Lyte III ‘Black Koi’
Afew agreed to release another GEL-Lyte III in 2015, following up on their ‘Koi’ collaboration with ASICS. The ‘Black Koi’ has been given a new name. The shoe was made as a one-of-a-kind and auctioned off on May 23, 2015, with all proceeds going to a children’s hospital in Düsseldorf.
Backwards Swoosh Air Jordan 1 ‘Shattered Backboard’
Because of quality control problems, factory flaws typically mean that kicks lose value. However, it may often increase the value beyond belief. For example, Andrea Canziani ordered a pair of Air Jordan 1s in ‘Shattered Backboard’ online and received a pair with a backwards Swoosh! A pair of the ‘Gold Toe’ AJ1s recently appeared on the market with the same factory defect and sold for $96,000.
Yeezy boost 350 v2 ‘midnight blue’
Another Yeezy sample for you to drool about, ‘Ye fans. This is a ‘Midnight Blue’ colorway of the incredibly successful BOOST 350 V2 model, which was first seen by YEEZY MAFIA in 2017. Take a look at the sample images, and then cross your fingers that these make it to the shelves.
Although Kanye’s adidas Yeezy BSKTBL ‘Quantum’ is now available, there was a time when we awaited the release of a Yeezy Basketball sneaker. Interestingly, the ‘Quantum’ does not resemble this pair of blacked-out Yeezy ballers, which makes them even more scarce.
DJ Khaled x The Shoe Surgeon Air Jordan 1
DJ Khaled’s Grateful album was released in 2017. We were grateful when it actually launched, but we were even more grateful to see what The Shoe Surgeon had prepared to commemorate the occasion. A pair of immaculate Air Jordan 1s with 18K gold emblems, housed in a wooden box with a hand-wrapped bottle of champagne.
DJ Khaled didn’t play himself with these!
